Valentine's Day on Premier Radio

26th February 2018

I was thrilled that Premier Radio invited us onto their breakfast show to talk about singleness! Having just devoted a whole week to marriage, Inspirational Breakfast presenter Rosie Wright was keen that their Valentine’s Day show would focus on what it’s like to be an unmarried Christian. She shared that many of their morning listeners were single, so it was encouraging to know that we were speaking to those who would directly benefit from the discussion.

Rosie was sadly away for the show, as being single herself she had organised a “Galentines” trip abroad with some friends – a great example of how you can make the most of Valentine’s Day when you’re not in a relationship! I had a great chat with John Pantry, who has been presenting the show for 20 years and been married for even longer. I was able to share with him and with listeners how single people often feel overlooked in churches and how important it is that we do something to change this. We also talked about how Valentine’s Day can be a difficult time for those not in a relationship and discussed things individuals can do to make the day special for them.

I found it a really fruitful discussion and a great opportunity to raise awareness to a large audience of the need for single friendly churches. I have since received several positive comments from single listeners who were encouraged by the conversation, and I hope that married listeners also took away some helpful ideas to put into practice in their churches.

You can listen to it here.
